Do long distance relationships work?

It takes constant and determined effort by two people to make any relationship work. Cyber-relationships are no different.
While the relationship remains a long distance one there are ways to make it less painful.

1. Try to make contact with each other every day or so. Phone contact is best but if your finances don't allow you to do this, take time to write e-mail and surprise each other every now and then with snail mail.

2. Stay busy. Don't sit around doing nothing. Have a life apart from the romance. Take up a new hobby or go back to school.

3. Don't spend hours and hours online waiting for your love to appear. Plan a certain time to meet each other online, or write email. Have a plan for the times something prevents one of you 'keeping a date' so there is no worry and stress.

4. Share your daily routine with each other. Take the time to make eachother part of your everyday lives.

5. Make set plan for meeting. Having a fixed date makes the waiting easier.

6. Always be positive. Plan for your time together rather than dwelling on time spent a part.
